ROTATION OF LATISSIMUS DORSI FLAP THROUGH THE MINIMAL INCISIONS IN POLAND¡¯S SYNDROME
Lee Hye-Kyung

Shin Keuk-Shun
Abstract
Poland¡¯s syndrome was firstly defined by Patrick Clarkson in 1962. In the original description by Alfred Poland, there was no mention of breast absence of maldevelopment.

In recent years, breast reconstruction following mastectomy is popularized in esthetic plastic surgery. And the use of latissimus dorsi flap is well established. In patients with Poland¡¯s pectoralis anomaly, the latissimus dorsi provides sufficient muscle tissue to obtain chest wall symmetry especially in recreation of anterior axillary fold.

This corrective & reconstructive operation is usually performed in young female patients and thus small incision is required, that is, in hidden area. We used a method by transposition of latissimus dorsi island flap through minimal and hidden two insisions, such as axillary fold and Bra-line.
